Terms & Conditions
In short. Masarif is a record-keeping tool. It is provided as it is, your records live on your phone and are yours to back up, and nothing in the app is financial, tax, legal or religious advice.
1. Agreement
These terms apply to your use of the Masarif app ("the app"), published by Masarif Finance ("we", "us"). By installing or using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. What the app is
Masarif lets you record income and expenses, budgets, recurring entries, assets, loans, and money you hold for other people, and gives you summaries based on what you enter. It does not move money, connect to bank accounts, or verify anything you record.
3. Your licence
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own lawful purposes. You may not sell or redistribute the app, or use it to break the law or infringe someone else's rights.
4. Your records and backups
Your records are stored only on your device. We do not have a copy and cannot recover them. If you lose or reset your device, uninstall the app, clear its data, or forget your app passcode or backup passphrase, your records may be lost for good.
You are responsible for making backups using the app's backup feature, for keeping your backup passphrase safe, and for checking that a backup can be restored before you rely on it.
5. Not advice
Totals, budgets, forecasts and other figures in the app are calculated from what you enter and may be incomplete or wrong. They are for your information only and are not financial, investment, tax, accounting or legal advice.
The Zakat estimate is an informational calculation based on the values and choices you provide. It is not a religious ruling. Please confirm your obligations with a qualified scholar or adviser.
6. Money you hold for others, and loans
The app helps you keep notes about loans and about money you look after for other people. It does not create, prove or enforce any agreement between you and anyone else. You alone are responsible for those arrangements and for the accuracy of what you record and share.
When you record another person's details, push a statement to a Google Sheet, or send a WhatsApp reminder, you are responsible for having the right to hold and share that information and for choosing who can see it. Anyone who has the web app link of a Google Sheet you connected can write to that sheet, so keep the link private.
7. Other services
Some features hand information to services we do not control, including Google Sheets and Google Apps Script, WhatsApp, your device's speech recognition service, and any app you choose when sharing a file. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them.
8. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what the app stores and when information leaves your phone. It forms part of these terms.
9. Changes to the app
We may update the app, add or remove features, or stop offering it. An update may change how your records are stored; back up before updating.
10. No warranty
The app is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or suitable for any particular purpose, or that its calculations are accurate.
11. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Masarif Finance is not liable for any loss of data, loss of money, or indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app or your reliance on its figures, including losses from mistakes in records, missed payments, disputes with other people, or information you shared through another service. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded.
12. Ending these terms
You can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. Your licence ends automatically if you break these terms.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The current version and its effective date will always be on this page. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the new terms.
